Targeted Lung Health Checks
Now rolling out in Cambridge for patients aged 55 to 74
The NHS is now offering free Targeted Lung Health Checks to people aged 55 to 74 in the Cambridge area who are current or former smokers. The aim is to detect lung problems, especially cancer, early, when treatment is more effective.
Eligible patients will receive an invitation for a phone assessment with a nurse to review their lung health. If at higher risk, they’ll be offered a low-dose CT scan at a local mobile unit. The service is safe, quick, and can spot signs of lung cancer early, often before symptoms develop.
This service is part of a national NHS programme and is now being rolled out across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. You do not need to contact the practice, invitations will be sent automatically.
If your smoking status has changed recently, please update your record with us to ensure eligibility. Early detection saves lives, please take up the offer if invited.
